Before your appointment

Confirm the practice location, fees, medical-aid arrangements and any referral requirements. Bring relevant reports, scan results, a medicines list and your questions. Do not stop medicines or fast unless the practice specifically instructs you.

Pregnancy & feeding

Ask early about antenatal visits, screening and your birth preferences. Breastfeeding support can help with positioning, discomfort and milk supply. Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for the first six months where appropriate, with complementary foods from six months and continued breastfeeding. Individual circumstances and medicines may require tailored advice; ask your care team for non-judgemental support.

Results & follow-up

Ask when results will be available, how you will receive them and who to contact if they have not arrived. Check any restrictions, recovery instructions and follow-up dates before you leave.
